Portion of Funding will Help Minot Area Flood Victims, Delegation says

WASHINGTON, DC – November 22, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Senators Kent Conrad and John Hoeven and Congressman Rick Berg today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded a $1.5 million grant to assist Western North Dakota communities with housing and infrastructure development.

“This is good news for Western North Dakota. This funding will help communities invest in their infrastructure, much of which are feeling the strain of the oil boom,” the delegation said. “Additionally, a portion of the funding will go to help Minot area families impacted by the spring floods. Every little bit helps as we continue to press for additional disaster relief for flood victims.”

The Sustainable Communities Regional Planning grant was awarded to the Rural Economic Area Partnership Investment Fund. The HUD grant program supports planning efforts that integrate housing, economic and workforce development, transportation, and infrastructure investments

The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development with funds appropriated by Congress.
