Heitkamp Announces Federal Funding for Affordable Housing for Veterans in Williston, Dickinson

BISMARCK, N.D. – April 20, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) –– U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today announced nearly $120,000 in federal funding to help homeless veterans and their families access affordable housing in the Williston and Dickinson areas.

These funds will be used to distribute a total of 25 vouchers to homeless veterans and their families in the Williston and Dickinson areas. The vouchers can be used to purchase existing affordable housing of their choice.

“Everyone deserves to have a place to call home, especially the brave men and women who have risked their lives for our freedom,” said Heitkamp. “It’s so critical that we live up the promises made to our servicemembers to support them when they return home. These funds will help us fulfill our commitment by helping 25 homeless veterans and their families find safe and affordable homes, building stronger communities throughout our state.”

The federal funds are distributed as follows:

Williston Housing Authority – $77,150; 15 vouchers.
Stark County Housing Authority – $41,591; 10 vouchers.
These funds are authorized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
