Hoeven Announces More than $1 Million in Grants for North Dakota Airports, Aeronautics

WASHINGTON – June 22, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Senator John Hoeven today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded three grants totaling $1,047,256 to the Standing Rock Tribe, Glen Ullin Municipal Airport Authority and State of North Dakota for airport construction and rehabilitation projects as well as update a statewide pavement management system study. The awards are as follows:

  • State of North Dakota – $441,756 – The funds will be used for a project to update North Dakota’s aviation system pavement management system study.
  • Standing Rock Tribe – $403,000 – The funds will be used to construct a 400 square foot terminal building to meet increased passenger and operational needs; rehabilitate and seal cracks on runway 14/32, Taxiway A and the existing apron; improve safety areas on runway 14/32.
  • Glen Ullin Municipal Airport Authority – $202,500 – The funds will be used to rehabilitate and seal cracks on runway 11/29.

“North Dakota’s economic growth is fueled significantly by our state’s airports,” Hoeven said. “We need to make sure we are shoring up our airport infrastructure because doing so will allow their continued and safe use.”

As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Hoeven works to support programs that invest in infrastructure and other services to meet the needs of North Dakota’s growing population and commerce.
