Hoeven Announces More Than $118,000 in Grants to End Veteran Homelessness

WASHINGTON – S- April 20, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) have made $118,741 available to help veterans find permanent homes.

The funds are made available through the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program, which combines HUD rental assistance with VA case management and clinical services to offer veterans support in obtaining and maintaining permanent housing.

“Our veterans have fought bravely to defend our country, and it is of the utmost importance that we show them care and resect when they come home,” Hoeven said. “To that end, these funds will help our vets find and maintain permanent homes, which is one of the most basic ways we can deliver on our nation’s promises to them.”

The grants are awarded as follows:

Stark County Housing Authority – $41,591.00
Williston Housing Authority – $77,150.00
