MINOT, ND – September 23, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) — The North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) honored six real estate agents with Champion of Affordable Housing Awards during the 2008 North Dakota/South Dakota REALTORS® Convention. Champion awards recognize and celebrate exceptional contributions to the state’s affordable housing industry.
“Homeownership provides both stability for families and a chance to build a real investment for themselves and their children,” said Gov. John Hoeven. “By promoting the use of NDHFA’s FirstHome™ program, these real estate agents are offering North Dakota households with the means to begin building a nest egg for the future.”
“Without the support of these dedicated agents, it can be difficult for Housing Finance Agency to get information out to the buyers who benefit from the below-market interest rate loans and down payment assistance,” said Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem.
“More than 32,000 North Dakota families have achieved homeownership with NDHFA’s assistance,” said Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson. “The average borrower realizes an interest savings of more than $50 per month by using the program.”
NDHFA recognized Peggy Isakson of Coldwell Banker, Fargo; Donna Keogh of Action Realtors, Wahpeton; Susie Lefor of LaDuke and Associates, Dickinson; Shirley Thomas of Coldwell Banker, Bismarck; Terry Murphy of Town and Country Realty, Fargo; and DelRae Zimmerman of Prudential Preferred Properties, Minot.
The award recipients are judged on their promotion of the NDHFA’s programs, and their involvement in locally sponsored homeownership projects and events.
