Heitkamp Announces Significant Federal Funding to Support Safe & Affordable Housing across ND

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 1, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today announced more than $1.4 million in federal funding to operate and manage public housing agencies across North Dakota.

Public housing agencies work to make sure low-income families, people with disabilities and the elderly have access to safe, decent and affordable housing and promote opportunities for economic independence. These funds are awarded as operating subsidies to help cover the costs for operation and management.

“Public housing agencies are an important part of North Dakota communities because they provide the most vulnerable North Dakotans with a place to call home,” said Heitkamp. “The work done by public housing agencies isn’t glamorous, but it’s critical that we remember the significant impact they have in the lives of countless North Dakotans and the importance of investing funds like these into local public housing agencies so they can help families in our communities.”

The federal funds are distributed as follows:

Fargo Housing and Redevelopment Authority – $481,533
Burleigh County Housing Authority – $272,564
Minot Housing Authority – $182,258
Housing Authority of Cass County – $131,582
Rolette County Housing Authority – $78,125
Housing Authority of the City of Williston – $71,439
Ramsey County Housing – $37,837
Traill County Housing Authority – $31,987
Mercer County Housing Authority – $31,812
Nelson County Housing – $29,909

Towner County Housing Authority – $17,388
Emmons County Housing Authority – $13,579
