Washington, DC – June 1, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Senators Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan and Congressman Earl Pomeroy today announced that a $118,707 federal grant has been awarded to the Grand Forks Housing Authority to support housing programs for North Dakota veterans.“It is our responsibility as a nation to ensure our veterans receive all the care and support they need. When our nation called, they served without hesitation. Now, we must fulfill our promise to them,” the delegation said in a joint statement. “This funding will allow agencies in Grand Forks to help find safe, supportive housing for veterans. It’s the right thing to do.”
The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development -Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program with funds appropriated by Congress.
The HUD-VASH Program provides long-term case management, supportive services and permanent housing support for the most vulnerable homeless veterans.
Eligible homeless veterans receive VA-provided case management and supportive services to address physical and mental health, substance abuse, and functional concerns contributing to or resulting from homelessness.
