Heitkamp Announces Federal Funding to Support Renters and Homeowners across ND

-

FARGO, N.D. – April 10, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today announced more than $123,000 in federal funding for the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency to support counseling about home decisions, such as financial management and property maintenance, to tenants and homeowners across the state.

Specifically, these funds will support housing counselors that provide expert, unbiased guidance and information to help folks find the best homes for them and fulfill their tenant or homeowner responsibilities. Helping folks make smart housing decisions plays an integral role in continuing to stabilize the national housing market.

“As a new family starting to get your feet on the ground, a college student renting your first apartment, or a growing family that needs to make upgrades, the rules, guidelines and financial responsibilities of renting or owning a home can be confusing and overwhelming. That is why these federal funds are important – because they provide critical support to help make sure homeowners and renters make smart financial decisions. I’m committed to making sure all North Dakotans have access to safe and affordable housing, and providing important information and counseling will help do that.”

These funds are authorized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
