WASHINGTON – April 9, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Senator John Hoeven today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded a grant of $123,373 to the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency to provide counseling and advice to tenants and homeowners regarding property maintenance, financial management and other matters that will help them improve their housing conditions, meet their financial needs, and fulfill their responsibilities as renters or homeowners.
“North Dakota’s economic growth has heightened the need for affordable housing, but sometimes people are confused and frustrated by the challenges of acquiring and maintaining a house or apartment,” Hoeven said. “This grant helps those who are struggling with housing challenges to understand their options and responsibilities.”
Comprehensive Housing Counseling Grants are used to help individuals and families obtain housing and stay in their homes through responsible homeownership or affordable rental housing. Beneficiaries are generally underserved populations, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities and others who face economic and other challenges to secure housing.
