Housing Agency Provides Support

BISMARCK, ND – April 22, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — The Industrial Commission today approved distribution of more than $200,000 by the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) through the Helping Housing Across North Dakota (Helping HAND) program.

“NDHFA supports non-profit agencies across North Dakota that work to address the unmet housing needs of lower-income individuals and families,” said Governor Jack Dalrymple. “The agency’s assistance impacts hundreds of households each year.”

“Used together with local resources, Helping HAND addresses a wide range of needs,” said Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem. “Grants support weatherization and rehabilitation of residential properties.”

“Households receiving assistance must be income qualified,” said Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. “NDHFA also requires nonprofit grant recipients to provide a 25 percent match of the total project cost.”

NDHFA’s earnings fund the Helping HAND program. Since 2000, the program has leveraged more than $18.6 million in additional funding for the construction or rehabilitation of more than 3,600 housing units statewide.
