FEMA Awards More than $330,000 to Enhance Fire Safety in North Dakota

WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 23, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded $337,826 to the Inkster Rural Fire Protection District and the North Dakota Firefighter’s Association in Bismarck. The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

“As North Dakota’s population continues to grow, it’s important for us to ensure that our emergency responders are equipped with the training and resources they need to keep our communities safe,” Hoeven said. “This funding will help to make sure that firefighters in Bismarck and Inkster have the necessary equipment, supplies and training to continue their important service to our state.”

The funds are awarded as follows:

North Dakota Firefighter’s Association – $319,730 – This funding will go towards State Fire Training Academies to ensure that they have critically-needed resources to protect the public, train emergency responders and support community resilience
Inkster Rural Fire Protection District – $18,096 – This Operations and Safety funding includes professional training, wellness and fitness programs equipment, protective gear, facility modifications and supplies
Hoeven serves as chairman of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee on Homeland Security, which oversees funding for FEMA and other agencies at DHS.
