Heitkamp Announces Federal Funding for Rural North Dakota Wastewater Infrastructure
BISMARCK, N.D. – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp, a member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry, announced $3,055,000 in federal funding to make infrastructure improvements to the town of Elgin’s and Arthur’s water and sewer system.
“Our state’s rural communities are home to countless farmers, ranchers, families, and small businesses,” said Heitkamp. “Improving basic infrastructure needs will make sure rural North Dakota maintains its high quality of life providing for safe communities. This federal support will make needed upgrades and assessments to both Elgin’s and Arthur’s water and sewer infrastructure that every town and city expect to perform to meet their needs.”
Arthur will receive a federal grant of $1,338,000 and a federal loan of $1,687,000 to remove and replace water and sewer infrastructure through the Water & Waste Disposal Loan & Grant Program. Elgin will receive a $30,000 federal grant to asses and develop a preliminary plan for the town’s wastewater infrastructure needs through the Special Evaluation Assistance for Rural Communities and Households (SEARCH) program.
These federal funds are made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development.
