Hoeven Announces an Additional $17.4 Million in Bureau of Reclamation Funding for Rural Water Projects

WASHINGTON – February 10, 2016 – (RealEstateRama) — Senator John Hoeven today announced that the Bureau of Reclamation has awarded the Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin Program, Garrison Diversion Unit in North Dakota an additional $17.4 million in funding to build and improve water supply systems in a number of North Dakota and tribal communities. The senator said that with a previous $7.4 million Bureau of Reclamation award for rural water, North Dakota will receive nearly $24.8 million for essential water supply projects.

Hoeven serves on the U.S. Senate Energy and Water Appropriations Committee, which oversees funding for the Bureau of Reclamation.

“This additional funding will help to ensure that North Dakota communities, regardless of zip code or population, have access to high quality water supplies,” Hoeven said. “Improving and expanding our water supply systems will help us to maintain the high quality of life that we expect in North Dakota and ensure we have the infrastructure we need for the future.”

The $17.4 million in funding will help fund projects, including:

Gladstone Water Main and Tower – new reservoir and mainline
Makoti Water Storage System Expansion Project – new 100,000 gallon elevated water tank and installation of new water main
Glenburn Water Distribution System Project – new transmission line and extension of the current pipeline network
Glenburn Water Main and Tower Improvement Projects – new reservoir and mainline
Mohall Water Tower Improvement Project –new 225,000 gallon water tower and removal of old tower
Sherwood Water Quality Improvement Project – loop the water mains within the city to supply better quality water
Funding for Southwest Pipeline project – a vertical concrete caisson and intake pipeline into Lake Sakakawea.
