WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded two grants totaling $400,000 to the Ellendale Municipal Airport Authority and Jamestown Regional Airport Authority for runway infrastructure improvements and to increase safety. The awards are as follows:
Ellendale Municipal Airport Authority – $300,000 – The funds will be used to fully rehabilitate the lighting system for Runway 13/31, as well as build a new vertical/visual guidance system to make the airport more accessible to pilots by providing improved approaches to the ends of the runway.
Jamestown Regional Airport Authority – $100,000 – The funds will be used to enhance airport safety by reducing hazardous wildlife attractants.
“Our airports play a critical role in North Dakota’s economic success,” Hoeven said. “Today’s DOT grants to the airport authorities in Jamestown and Ellendale will help keep pilots and passengers safe, and will allow these airports to continue to provide great service to central and south central North Dakota.”
As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Hoeven works to support programs that invest in infrastructure and other services to meet the needs of North Dakota’s growing population and commerce.
