HOEVEN ANNOUNCES $911K GRANT TO PREVENT VETERAN HOMELESSNESS IN NORTH DAKOTA
WASHINGTON – (RealEstateRama) — Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Veterans Affairs, today announced that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded $911,497 to the Community Action Partnership (CAP) of North Dakota to help veterans and their families secure or remain in permanent housing. The funds are made available through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program and will enable CAP to provide services such as outreach, case management and assistance obtaining VA and other benefits.
“After the many sacrifices they make on our nation’s behalf, veterans and their families have earned our support here at home,” Hoeven said. “This grant will help ensure veteran have access to a wide range of services and benefits that will help provide them and their families greater stability and prevent them from falling into homelessness.”
Hoeven continues his efforts to improve veterans’ access to VA and other vital services in their local communities. To this end, the senator is working to:
Resolve scheduling issues with third party administrators. Earlier this year, Hoeven secured an agreement to implement a pilot project at the Fargo VA Medical Center to resolve scheduling delays, which the VA is planning to use as model across the country.
Facilitate greater health care services for veterans in both rural and urban communities by allowing veterans to see local health care providers and use local nursing homes.
